Sept 2026: Security Portal - GPS-based live event reporting

Not every incident happens near a tag. Guards can now submit a Live Event Report using their device's GPS location when there's no tag nearby, so nothing goes unreported just because a checkpoint wasn't within reach.

What it is and why it matters

Previously, every Live Event Report had to be tied to a tag ; incidents in tag-free areas like car parks or perimeters either got delayed or logged with no location at all.

Guards can now choose GPS Location as the source, with coordinates captured the instant they submit. That location flows through to the dashboard, reports, exports and email notifications.

How it works at a high level

Last Tag Location stays the default.

Selecting GPS Location instead captures coordinates at submission rather than linking to a tag. A new Location Source filter lets managers filter by Tag-Based or GPS-based reports, and GPS reports show a pin with a "View on map" link, both on the dashboard and in email notifications.

Best practice tips

  • Use the Location Source filter to spot recurring GPS-based reports — they're good candidates for a new tag.

  • Make sure guards still default to Last Tag Location when a tag is nearby.
