Sep 2026: Contractor Portal - Contractors can submit their own access requests

What it is and why it matters

Contractors can now initiate access requests directly from the Contractor Portal.

Previously, the request needed to originate elsewhere before appearing in the contractor workflow. The updated process gives contractors a clearer self-service route while keeping approval with the appropriate property team.

Access requests are available only where the contractor meets the required compliance status, helping ensure access is requested by contractors who are currently compliant.

When to use this

Contractors should use this process when they require access to a property or controlled area and an access request is required before work can take place.

Property or FM teams can then review those requests as part of the existing access-management process.

How it works (high-level)

An eligible contractor creates an access request from their Contractor Portal account.

The request is then made available to the property-management team for approval or rejection.

Once reviewed, the resulting status is reflected back in the contractor's Access Management area.

Contractors must have a green compliance status to submit an access request. Contractors who are not currently eligible are prevented from submitting and are given information explaining why.

• Keep insurance, certification and other required compliance information current to avoid delays.
• Submit access requests with enough notice for the property team to review them.
• Property teams should review outstanding requests regularly, particularly ahead of planned works.
