Oct 2026: Incident Management - Kinexio Secure API v2 - Now with Incident Management reporting
Connecting Kinexio Secure to your own systems just became more useful. The MyTAG APIv1 has been upgraded to the Kinexio Secure API v2, which now includes Incident Management reporting and makes it easier to collect incidents and their form answers together.
What it is and why it matters Incident Management
The Kinexio Secure API v2 is the upgraded version of the MyTAG API v1. It allows your own systems, such as reporting tools and dashboards, to request data from Kinexio Secure automatically.
Previously, the API did not include Incident Management reporting. Clients who wanted incident data in their own reporting had to export it manually, and matching incidents to their form answers took extra effort.
With this update, the API includes Incident Management reporting alongside the existing data. Two further additions make incident reporting more complete:
- Form answers by incident: a system can request the form answers for one or more incidents in a single request, instead of collecting submissions one at a time.
- Incident types list their forms: the incident lookups show which forms are assigned to each incident type, so an incident can be matched to the right form answers reliably.
Form answers returned by the API also include follow-up questions, with every answer labelled.
The service has its own monitoring and error alerting, so any problem is seen by the Kinexio team quickly. A seven-day live trial with clients using it for incident and patrol data completed with no errors.
When to use this
This is useful if you want Kinexio Secure data to feed into systems outside the platform.
It is particularly relevant if you:
- report on incidents in your own business intelligence or reporting tools
- want to reduce manual exports and re-keying of data
- need incidents and their form answers together in one place
- already use the API and want to add incident data to your feed
For example, a client with a central reporting dashboard can collect the day's incidents and all of the related form answers automatically, without anyone downloading a report.
How it works at a high level
Your system connects to the Kinexio Secure API v2 using an API key and requests the data it needs.
Incident Management data is available alongside the existing data. Form answers can be requested for one or more incidents at once, and each incident type shows the forms assigned to it so the two can be tied together.
Setting up or extending an integration is usually a job for your IT team or system provider.
Best practice tips
To get the most value from this update, we recommend the following:
-
Involve your technical team early: Share this update with whoever looks after your integrations so they can plan how to use the new incident data.
- Request form answers by incident: Collecting answers for several incidents in one request is quicker and more reliable than fetching them one at a time.
- Use the incident type lookups to match data: Rely on the forms listed against each incident type rather than matching by name.
- Keep API keys secure: Treat API keys like passwords. Store them safely and revoke any that are no longer needed.
- Speak to us before a large rollout: If you are planning a new or high-volume integration, contact your Kinexio representative so we can support you.
