Oct 2026: Forms - Copying a form now keeps its logic
Reusing an existing form is now much less work. When a published form is copied, its conditional logic is copied with it, so the new form behaves the same way as the original without being rebuilt by hand.
What it is and why it matters security operations
Copy With Logic is an enhancement to the way published forms are duplicated.
Previously, copying a published form brought the questions across but not the logic behind them. Any conditional rules, such as follow-up questions that appear based on an earlier answer, had to be rebuilt manually in the copy. This took time and made it easy for the copy to behave differently from the original.
With this update, duplicating a published form brings its conditional logic across as well. The copy is ready to adjust and use straight away, which saves setup time and keeps forms consistent.
When to use this
This feature is useful whenever a new form is based on one you already have.
It is particularly relevant if you:
- create variations of a standard form for different sites or teams
- build forms that rely on follow-up questions or conditional steps
- want to update a form without changing the original
- need consistent behaviour across similar forms
For example, if you have an inspection form where a failed check prompts a follow-up question, a copy of that form will now ask the same follow-up question without any extra setup.
How it works at a high level
When a published form is copied, the copy now includes the form's conditional logic as well as its questions.
The new form can then be edited in the usual way. Changes made to the copy do not affect the original form.
Best practice tips
To get the most value from this update, we recommend the following:
-
Start from your best form: Copy a form that is already working well, then adjust it, to avoid building common logicfrom scratch.
- Test the copy before it goes live: Run through the copied form once to confirm the logic still makes sense after yourchanges.
- Review logic when you change questions: If you remove or reword a question in the copy, check any rules that depend on it.
- Rename the copy clearly: Give the new form a distinct name so it is not confused with the original in the FormLibrary.
