Oct 2026: DeadZone app - More languages, GPS Live Event Reports and a more stable app
The DeadZone app has had a significant update. Version 23.0.041 gives guards more language options, lets Live Event Reports be raised with a GPS location when there is no tag to swipe, and makes the app more reliable during patrols.
What it is and why it matters security operations
DeadZone version 23.0.041, released on 8 September 2026, brings several improvements for guards and for the teams who read their reports.
Previously, a Live Event Report raised away from a tag point had no location recorded against it, and readers could not easily tell how a report had been raised. Guards whose first language was not covered had to work in a language that was not their own.
This update includes:
- Additional language translations
- throughout the app, so more guards can work in their own language.
- Live Event Reports without a tag: a report raised where there is no tag to swipe now records the guard's GPS position, so events away from a tag point are still located.
- Reports show their source: each Live Event Report is labelled as Tag Swipe or Mobile App, so the reader can see how it was raised.
- Support for the new Form Builder response types, so forms built with them can be completed on a device.
- Improved legibility in both light and dark mode, which is particularly helpful on nightshifts.
- Stability improvements that remove the most common ways the app could stop responding during a patrol, along with full compatibility with Android 15 and later.
Together, these changes make the app easier to use on shift and make the reports it produces more complete.
When to use this
These improvements are available to anyone using DeadZone version 23.0.041 or later.
They are particularly relevant if you:
- have guards who would prefer to use the app in another language
- need to record events that happen away from a tag point
- review Live Event Reports and want to know how each one was raised
- use forms built with the newer Form Builder response types
- have teams working night shifts or using newer Android devices
For example, if a guard finds a damaged fence between two tag points, they can raise a Live Event Report on the spot and the app will record their GPS position with it.
How it works at a high level
Once the app is updated to version 23.0.041 or later, the improvements are available automatically.
When a Live Event Report is raised by swiping a tag, it is labelled as Tag Swipe. When it is raised without a tag, the app records the guard's GPS position and the report is labelled as Mobile App.
Forms that use the new Form Builder response types can be opened and completed in the app in the same way as any other form.
Best practice tips
To get the most value from this update, we recommend the following:
-
Make sure devices are on the latest version: Check that all devices are running version 23.0.041 or later so every guard benefits from the improvements.
- Keep location services switched on: GPS-based Live Event Reports rely on the device being able to provide its location.
- Swipe a tag where one is available: GPS reports are ideal for events away from a tag point. Where a tag is present, swiping it remains the best proof of presence.
- Use the source label when reviewing reports: The Tag Swipe and Mobile App labels give useful context when reviewing where and how an event was reported.
- Tell guards about the language options: Let your teams know that more languages are available so they can work in the one they are most comfortable with.
