July 2026: Tenant Engagement - Compliant email comms with Tenants
CMS administrators can now send tenant communications by email alongside push notifications.
This provides an additional way to reach users who may not regularly open the app, while keeping communication within the existing CMS workflow. Marketing emails also include consent and unsubscribe controls designed to support responsible communication practices.
What it is and why it matters
Email Distribution allows administrators to send a CMS item to eligible users by email as well as through the app.
Recipients receive a branded email containing:
-
The communication headline and preview.
-
A clear call to action.
-
A direct link back into the Kinexio app.
-
A web fallback where app access is unavailable.
This helps property teams reach a wider audience without copying content into a separate email platform.
The update also distinguishes between marketing and operational communications. Marketing emails include a one-click unsubscribe option, helping organisations respect recipient preferences and manage consent more effectively.
When to use this
Use Email Distribution when:
-
Important information needs to reach users who may not regularly use the app.
-
Sending both email and push notifications would improve communication reach.
-
Encouraging users to return to the app or web platform.
-
Distributing newsletters, events, offers or other marketing content.
-
Sending suitable operational updates through an additional channel.
-
Replacing manual copying into external email tools.
Email should complement the app rather than replace it. The full CMS item remains the main source of the communication.
How it works (high-level)
When creating or editing a CMS item, an authorised administrator can enable email distribution alongside the usual app notification options.
The email is sent to eligible, verified users who have access to the content and meet the relevant communication-preference requirements.
Each email includes a link that opens the content in the app. Where this is not possible, the recipient can be directed to the appropriate web experience.
Marketing and operational communications are handled differently:
- Marketing communications** include an unsubscribe option so recipients can manage their preferences.
- Operational communications** are clearly identified and may use different preference rules where the message is necessary for the service or property operation.
Delivery and engagement information can help teams understand whether emails are reaching recipients and bringing users back into the platform.
Best practice tips
-
Use email when it adds value rather than automatically enabling it for every CMS item.
-
Confirm that the selected audience has permission to access the content.
-
Clearly classify the communication as marketing or operational.
-
Use a specific headline and preview that explain why the email matters.
-
Make the call to action clear and link users back to the full item.
-
Respect unsubscribe choices and avoid re-adding recipients without an appropriate reason.
-
Do not send marketing emails to users without the required permission or consent.
-
Avoid sending the same message repeatedly through overlapping campaigns.
-
Review delivery and click-through results to improve future communications.
-
Keep recipient data and communication preferences current.
-
Seek appropriate privacy or legal guidance for your organisation’s specific obligations.
