Bookings: Key Term Definitions

Here are some key term definitions used throughout guide on the Kinexio Bookings Platform

Term

 

Definition

 

Booking module

The overall feature that enables the creation, configuration, and management of Booking Systems within the CMS and mobile app.
Must be activated per centre.

Booking System

A self-contained environment within the Booking module, used to manage a set of bookable spaces (e.g. Meeting Rooms, Loading Bays).
Each system includes its own statuses, flows, and settings.

Booking Systems are created by Professional Services on behalf of customers.

Space

A physical or functional area that can be booked (e.g. Meeting Room 1, Bay 4).

Bookable Space

A space that end users can reserve.

Non-bookable Space

A parent or organisational category used to structure spaces (e.g. “Ground Floor” or “East Wing”) but cannot be booked.

Slot

A defined window of time during which a bookable space can be reserved.
We currently provide “Hourly” and “Half hourly”.
Slots control availability and booking rules.

Status

The state of a booking (e.g. Pending, Confirmed).

Status Type

The Type of Status - this can be:

  • Starting Point
    This represents the initial status that a Booking will go to when submitted by a user.

  • Standard
    Any intermediate- or termination- status that is not a Cancelled type.

  • Cancelled
    A Cancelled Status Type will allow any slots related to a Booking in the status to be made available to be booked again.

Status Flow

The allowed transitions between statuses (e.g. Pending → Confirmed).

Status Action

Configurable system response automations to status changes (e.g. email confirmation).

Form Template

The Booking form filled in by the end user. Configured via the Form Builder.
